Bio
Qualifications: DipHE Popular Music Performance, BA Education, Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. I have also completed courses in Counselling, Life Coaching. Mentoring & Dalcroze (learning music through movement) & completed a research project in learning styles.
Employments: Leeds Metropolitan University, Swarthmore Centre for Education, Artforms (Education Leeds), Leeds Youth Service & Youth Music.
Musical Background: After completing a 2 year BTEC in Popular Music Performance at CCOAST where I was one of only two lead singers so I got loads of gigs, I studied for a HNC in Jazz (Flute & Voice) where I learnt to improvise & apply some pretty serious Jazz theory. After that I studied for a Certificate in Higher Education in Classical Music. (University College Chichester) then a Diploma in Higher Education in Popular Music Performance at London College of Music & Media. The latter involved performing music from a variety of styles including: chart, reggae, prog rock, jazz, trip hop, latin, R&B, blues & country. I also learned how to record and produce alongside a curriculum of sight-reading, theory, rhythm studies and other core modules. Although I was getting top marks I was even more passionate about teaching than performing so I consolidated my training by transferring onto a BA in Education at Leeds Metropolitan University alongside working as a Musical Director, Further Education Tutor and Peripatetic Singing Teacher.
Other info: I am fully CRB checked.
Other Interests: I have a keen interest in health, travel & education.
